A thin crescent moon appears low in the southeastern sky tomorrow morning, in close proximity to the bright planet Venus. Both are in or near the zodiacal constellation Pisces. The sight is even better on Sunday morning when the two are closer together.
The crescent moon remains in the morning sky in the coming week.
New Moon phase isn’t until Friday morning, so you may still spot the moon low in the morning sky Tuesday. With the moon out of the evening sky for the coming week, take a walk outside at night and marvel at how many stars are visible. The Big Dipper is now prominent, high above the North Star.
The winter constellations Orion, Taurus and Auriga command the western sky. The red planet Mars is in Taurus right under the star cluster Pleiades, also known as the Seven Sisters. Mars is nowhere near as bright as it was a year ago.
