Father’s Day was good for outdoor barbecues, beaches and all kinds of surprises. My family treated me well with breakfast at Linda Jean’s with Jane and Ed Konicki. Nicole called with well wishes from her family and son Sam did the same and he cleaned up the pile of clippings from the shrubs cut back the day before. Anna topped it off with a steak dinner. It is getting busier each day as people continue to arrive for their vacation. The ball fields and tennis courts were busy last weekend.

Phyllis Meras of Music Street arrived home on Wednesday from a business trip to Germany with side excursions to Switzerland and France. She is looking forward to enjoying the summer back home.

Ed and Jane Konicki departed on Monday after spending a week at her daughter Lynn’s condo in Vineyard Haven. They enjoyed meeting old friends and making new ones. Jane can’t wait to return in August.

The First Congregational Church of West Tisbury’s 31st Annual Strawberry Festival will be held tomorrow from noon to 4 p.m. All proceeds help support the historic church. The festival goes on rain or shine. I can clearly remember Joe Kraetzer and his wife Sally walking around town with old school bells wearing sandwich board signs as nearly as tall as they were promoting the first few festivals.

Olivia Larsen over at the library reports that on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. all are invited to a family-friendly concert featuring Choros das Tres!, a Brazilian instrumental group of three sisters and their father.
