As the Union Chapel 2019 season comes to a close this Sunday, Sept. 1, trustee Reverend Dr. Aliya F. Browne will deliver the sermon, entitled He Knows My Name.

Rev. Dr. Browne is a minister in the Baptist church and a board certified clinical cardiologist, incorporating spiritual practices into her prescription for holistic health. She currently serves as pulpit relief for the head pastor at First United Methodist Church in West Branch, Mich., as well as teaching Christian meditation and hosting spiritual retreats for women. She previously served as women’s ministry lead at First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens in Somerset, N.J.

She is a graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary, where her focus was on practical theology and spiritual direction, and holds a spiritual direction certificate from Oasis Ministries. She and her husband, Reggie Browne, have four children and a home here on the Island.

Union Chapel is an interdenominational church in Oak Bluffs. Worship begins at 10 a.m., preceded by an organ prelude at 9:40 a.m.
