A police search remains ongoing for a suspect in the murder of Pat Gregory on a remote hiking trail in northern California more than five years ago.

Mr. Gregory, a well-known figure on the Vineyard who was the West Tisbury town moderator, was hiking with a friend on the Iron Canyon Trail in May 2014 when they were the victims of a robbery and shooting. Mr. Gregory died at the scene; his hiking companion survived.

The perpetrator, described as a tall white male with dark hair, was never found.

West Tisbury police chief Matt Mincone said this week that the California Bureau of Land Management recently notified him that a composite sketch is being circulated with an offer of reward for any information about the suspect in the case.
