Thomas Berry was many things: a humanist, an eco-theologian, a priest, an author. Mostly, throughout his life, he wrote and spoke about the need for humanity to move away from being separate from the earth and its species, to becoming one with it. He died in 2009 but his work lives on. On Sunday, Sept. 29 at the First Congregational Church of West Tisbury the authors of a new biography of Mr. Berry, Mary Evelyn Tucker and John Grim, will talk about his life and vision.

Ms. Tucker and Mr. Grim teach at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies and the Yale Divinity School, where they direct the Yale Forum on Religion and Ecology. The authors worked closely with Mr. Berry for over 30 years and are the managing trustees of the Thomas Berry Foundation.

The talk begins at 2 p.m. on Sunday. The First Congregational Church of West Tisbury is located at 1051 State Road in West Tisbury. Call 508-693-2842 for more details.
