A free hunter safety firearms course will be offered by the Martha’s Vineyard Rod and Gun Club in April.

Course dates are April 20, 25 and 26. Available to anyone over the age of 10, the course meets state requirements for people wishing to obtain their first firearms hunting license or a firearms identification card from their local police department.

Classes will be held at the rod and gun club in Edgartown. Attendance is required at all three days of the course in order to receive a certificate of completion. Preregistration is required by calling Mass Wildlife Hunter Safety Program at 508-389-7830.

Course times are: Monday, April 20, 6 to 9 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, April 25 and 26, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
