Gibbous Moon and Libra

Tonight's gibbous moon appears in the zodiacal constellation Libra, a constellation we associate with warmer nights ahead. The moon moves through the zodiacal constellations of summer in the coming week and they include Scorpius, Sagittarius and Capricornus.

Libra is a small constellation in close proximity to the zodiacal constellation Scorpius. There is more mythology to the constellation than bright stars. The constellation depicts a scale, for weighing, a scale of justice. It is the only constellation in our skies that isn't some kind of animal, human, God or musical instrument.

Look to the right of the moon tonight and you'll see bright Spica, the principle star  in the constellation Virgo. Look to the left of the moon and you'll see the bright red star Antares in the constellation Scorpius.
