Perhaps the covid 19 pandemic and gauge for human safety and activity is analogous to the phases of fog density:

• Dungeness thick of fog: Where there is zero visibility.

• Thick of fog: Where the visibility is a quarter nautical mile or less.

• Fog: Where visibility is between one to three nautical miles.

We are currently in a Covid-19 dungeness thick of fog. No travel is advised within the stay at home order.

The Covid-19 thick of fog is when the steep incline in the growth and number of new cases flattens and starts to decline. This is when the stay at home is still in place but people can start to see a short distance and it is only a matter of time for the fog to lift.

• The Covid-19 fog is when phase one of the return to activity is allowed but, this activity can only progress at a slow speed while continuing to wear safety gloves and masks as appropriate.

The Covid-19 clear skies and sunny day will be achieved when a vaccine is discovered and made available, thus enabling the return to life at full speed ahead.

It is only a matter of time for the sun to come out. Be well, and safe boating.
