A $12 million injection of federal funding will reach the Steamship Authority within the next two weeks, according to an announcement from the office of Massachusetts Cong. William Keating.

Mr. Keating received a commitment Friday from federal transit administrator K. Jane Williams to expedite the funding allotted to the boat line through the Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority, the announcement stated.

Combining a $9.8 million CARES Act grant with the SSA’s annual $2.45 million in federal transit funding for commuter services, the money will keep the Steamship Authority operating through August 1, the announcement from Mr. Keating’s office said.
