Oak Bluffs fire chief Martin Greene announced this week that Manuel (Manny) Rose has been promoted to the permanent position of deputy chief.

The chief praised Mr. Rose for his work. “His 27 years of experience with the town has been invaluable to the community,” Chief Greene said. “I wish we could do this with more fanfare, but we wish all to stay safe,” he added.

Mr. Greene, a decorated firefighter with long experience, was named chief in March after years of turmoil in the town fire and EMS departments.
