The Martha’s Vineyard Film Center reopens Wednesday, with reduced seating in accordance with state guidelines.

“The theatre will be sanitized before every show and we will be implementing new safety protocols to keep our patrons and staff safe at all times,” states an announcement from the Martha’s Vineyard Film Society, which operates the film center in Vineyard Haven. Among the changes listed in the announcement:

• Tickets must be purchased in advance online.
• Credit cards are encouraged for concession purchases.
• Masks are required throughout the time patrons are in the building.
• Seating will be limited to every other row and four seats between a group of one to four individuals.
• Film center staff coming on duty will be screened with an infrared thermometer.

The Capawock Theatre on Main street and the Strand in Oak Bluffs, which are also managed by the film society, remain closed. But the society is bringing something new to the Vineyard summer scene: an outdoor movie series at Featherstone Center for the Arts in Oak Bluffs, with limited free admission and socially distanced picnic spaces.

The Tuesday night series begins July 14 with Yesterday, screening at 8:30 p.m. The free tickets are available by reservation only on the film society website.

Film center screenings start July 8 and include The Trip to Greece, Emma and John Lewis: Good Trouble.
