The humidity has at last dissipated in Aquinnah, with the temperature in the 60s and a cool ocean breeze. We missed the effects of the tropical storm over the weekend as it was more inland. The coolness has brought out a few craftspeople in this quiet neighborhood with saws buzzing, roofers shingling and the roar of lawnmowers in the distance.

It was a treasure to sit and reminisce with Douglas Seward on Saturday afternoon at his Creekville Antique Shop. We covered the past century of some of our favorite people and places. Jane Slater joined us for the finale. So much history to retain that needs to be in a journal somewhere.
Sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Betty Eddy who passed away at the age of 100, having recently celebrated that milestone. She always had a jovial greeting when calling her dear friend, the late Ollie Edwards, on a daily basis during the summer. Betty was the presenter at the Women’s Symposium held in Chilmark twice a year. She will be greatly missed for her enchanting sense of wit and wisdom.
