The African American Heritage Trail of Martha’s Vineyard has announced the dedication of a new site on the self-guided trail.
The home of E. Jacqueline Hunt, at 62 Nashawena Park, Oak Bluffs will join the Trail as site number 31 in honor of the lifetime achievements of "Miss Jakki," a lifelong social justice activist who served as president of the Martha's Vineyard chapter of the NAACP from 1979 to 1989, organizers said.
Well wishers are invited to drive by and honor Ms. Hunt beginning at noon August 22. A socially distanced celebration in Nashawena Park is also planned.
