A 20-year-old male was airlifted to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston with serious injuries Monday after jumping head first from the Little Bridge in Oak Bluffs, police and EMS confirmed.

Kamil Sodul was stabilized at the scene for an apparent head injury, according to an Oak Bluffs police report. Police and EMS were called to the scene off Seaview avenue just after 3 p.m. Monday. Mr. Sodul had jumped from the bridge head first and struck bottom, according to the report. He was pulled from the water by a group of visiting off-Island firefighters after having a seizure, the report said.

Mr. Sodul was transported by ambulance to the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital and airlifted quickly to the hospital in Boston, according to Oak Bluffs fire chief Martine Greene.

Four other family members and six rental bicycles were at the scene at the time of the accident, according to the police report.

Hospital spokesman Katrina Delgadillo confirmed the airlift later, and said the patient was in stable condition at the time he was airlifted to Boston.

No condition report was immediately available in Boston Tuesday afternoon.
