First on my newsfeed today was a letter from Dukes County. It refers to the need to heighten awareness and vigilance as the Covid-19 threat is now gripping our Island. The high school has suspended all in person learning for now. I am not sure about the grade schools. Mask-wearing, handwashing and social distancing are a must. No large gatherings. Please, everyone.

The Pats came through last weekend! It was a great game. It has given many of us fans new hope. I’m ready for this weekend’s game.

I know the perfect place for an intimate and interesting marriage proposal. Seth Gambino of La Chosa and his mother, Rosemary Gambino of Rosecuts and her charming store, Found It! on our Main street, have set a beautiful table in Found It! for a private dinner. A small family birthday party, a special event, this is the place. You may rent the space, bring in food of your choosing, and enjoy the beautiful shop. They will play your favorite music, do setup and cleanup, and you will be surrounded by remembrances of things past. Rosemary is the best collector of antiques I know.

The Featherstone holiday gift show is on from 12 to 4 p.m. daily from now through Dec. 16. The only day it is shuttered will be Thanksgiving day. Get your Island made gifts and decorations. Be sure to see artist Kathy Poehler’s latest take on crafts from the sea.

My Summer Son from back in the day, Anthony Masi and wife Katelyn, are thrilled to announce the birth of their third child, Jack Shores Masi. Jack was born on Nov. 12. He weighed in at 10 lbs. 3 oz.. and was 21 inches long. Jack joins his big sister and brother. Everyone is doing fine. Welcome to the world, Jack Shores Masi.

In a shockingly rare sighting, the Angel of the Airwaves, Angel (Nancy) Naphtalie Aiguier, made a quick trip to the Island. You all remember Frances Down who grew up here and raised her own kids here? Angel is one of her daughters. Angel is a deejay, an artist. a musician, a cook, a hands-on grandmother, and a Renaissance woman. I missed seeing her but if I have more notice I shall meet her boat next time and roll out the red carpet.

Holly Nadler flew out to California to visit with her Mom, Trina Mascott. Trina passed while Holly was there. Our condolences to this amazing family.

I am heartbroken to tell you my bookkeeper of many years and dear friend, Susan Woods, passed this week. Susan was loyal, efficient, kind, and loved a good joke. Her family members were with her. She was in her own home in Oak Bluffs. I shall never forget her.
