The Vineyard Haven Public Library and Elizabeth Whelan are teaming up for another summer of free art classes via Zoom, according to a library announcement. Ms. Whelan's weekly classes will meet Wednesday at 11 a.m. from April 21 to Sept. 1.

This year's focus is on drawing, with an emphasis on techniques and demonstrations. There will be opportunities to draw during the class, but participants are not required to show their work and special art supplies are not required.

Ms. Whelan will give two classes for each topic, according to the announcement:

April 21, 28 - Basic Principles of Drawing and Composition: a refresher
May 5, 12 - Graphite: pencil techniques for landscapes & plein air sketching
May 19, 26 - Charcoal: still life and figures
June 2, 9 - Pen & Ink: drawing places and people
June 16, 23 - Conté Crayon: the Trois Couleurs method for skin tones
June 30, July 7 - Silverpoint: learning an Old Masters technique
July 14, 21 - Mixed Media: abstraction in drawing
July 28, Aug 4 - Colored pencil: drawing beautiful plants and fruit
Aug 11, 18 - All drawing media: drawing folds, drawing animals
August 25, Sept 1 - All drawing media: working from memory and imagination
