What a difference a day makes. The temperature on Monday morning was 10 degrees. By Tuesday afternoon, the temperature was in the mid 50s. Signs of spring are more prevalent with each passing day. We await the arrival of herring in the newly dredged run between Menemsha Pond and Squibnocket Pond. Daylight Saving Time begins on March 14; please remember to turn your clock ahead one hour at 2 a.m. on Sunday.
The children of Aquinnah will have the opportunity to design their new playground to be built behind the town hall. On March 13 at 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., playground designer Jim Houghton will lead a design day via Zoom. For the Zoom link go to the Aquinnah town website, and then Zoom in at 6 p.m. on March 13 for the reveal of the design.
The last day to submit your nomination papers for the various positions in town will be March 25.

Congratulations to USCG BM1 Adam R. Smith who has advanced to the rank of chief, a well-deserved promotion. Adam served at USCG Station Menemsha for five years where he was known for his leadership as a mentor to those he served with. He leftfor Woods Hole in June 2019 to serve aboard the USCG Cutter Sanibel. Adam and his wife Meghan (a former teacher at the West Tisbury School) and their daughters Elliana and Adelaide reside at Air Station Cape Cod.
Sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Glenn Hearn who passed away at his West Tisbury home on March 2. Glenn was always a favorite at the Farmers’ Market. He always had a kind word every time we met.
