The Martha’s Vineyard Land Bank reported revenues of $388,935 for the business week ending on Friday, April 2, 2021. The land bank receives its funds from a two per cent fee charged on many Vineyard real estate transactions.
Much of the land bank revenue last week came from the town of Edgartown, where seven transactions resulted in $156,210. Five transactions earned $88,130 in Oak Bluffs. Two transactions generated $67,700 in West Tibury. One transaction earned $43,595 in Chilmark. One transaction resulted in $19,300 in Aquinnah. And one transaction generated $14,000 in Tisbury.
The land bank uses its revenues to purchase and manage land for purposes of conservation, preservation and passive recreation. To date the agency has participated in the purchase of more than 3,882 acres of Vineyard land.
