Following a series of three half-hour interviews with finalists for the position of West Tisbury's first full-time fire chief, the town board of selectmen voted to hold deliberations April 28 to choose the successor to retiring chief Manny Estrella 3rd.

During a public Zoom session Wednesday, the board interviewed William Choate, a senior lieutenant with the West Bridgewater fire department who lives in Lakeville; Marques Rivers, a West Tisbury resident and volunteer captain with the town fire department whose day job is with Beetlebung Tree Care and the department's volunteer assistant chief, Gregory Pachico, who currently works as a butcher at Cronig's Market.

Each candidate answered 12 questions about his job experience, work ethics and plans for the West Tisbury department, should he be selected.

The time and Zoom link for next week's public session will be posted on the town website, westtisbury-ma.gov.
