Ice House Pond has reopened for swimming after a brief closure due to high bacteria counts, the Martha's Vineyard Land Bank said Wednesday.

The land bank had put an indefinite freeze on swimming in popular West Tisbury pond after bacteria testing came back high on Tuesday. But the issue was shortly remedied after the pond was tested again Tuesday afternoon.

Ice House pond is part of the land bank's Manaquayak Preserve off Lambert's Cove Road in West Tisbury.

Testing is conducted by the Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head (Aquinnah)'s environmental laboratory.
