Move over turkey, Santa is coming to town. This week the tide turns to reindeer, holiday music and tree decorating.

On Wednesday, Dec. 1 Santa arrives in Oak Bluffs to help trim the town tree in Post Office Square. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. with hot chocolate and the Vineyard Haven Band leading carols then handing the song baton off to Brian Wyland and Company.

Santa arrives via fire truck at approximately 6:50 p.m.

The evening is also a food-raiser and everyone is asked to bring food donations for the Island Food Pantry. It’s a perfect way to help the giving muscles get back in shape. For more information, call 508-696-7643.

The holiday fun continues with the Teddy Bear Suite taking up residence in Edgartown beginning this weekend, returning to their Teddies Around Town iteration of last year. The popular fundraiser is in its 11th year and has raised over $265,000 for the Martha’s Vineyard Boys & Girls Club.

Teddies Around Town is a scavenger hunt, with participating businesses hosting teddy bears and children on the hunt with sheets full of riddles to help lead the way. The starting and ending location for Teddies Around Town is the Point B Realty office in Nevin Square at 19 Winter street, Edgartown. There is a suggested donation of $5 per child, all of which goes directly to the Martha’s Vineyard Boys & Girls Club.

Also this weekend, the Island Community Chorus is back in action after a pandemic hiatus last year. Shows are Saturday, Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 5, at 3 p.m. at the Old Whaling Church.
