West Tisbury’s new poet laureate is Tain Leonard-Peck, whose appointment was confirmed by the select board Wednesday afternoon.

Though Mr. Leonard-Peck was not able to attend the meeting, town library director Alexandra Pratt described him as a West Tisbury resident in his early 20s.

A selection of Mr. Leonard-Peck’s poetry is posted on the library website. According to his entry in the online Poets & Writers Directory, he writes drama and fiction as well as poetry and is also an actor, monologist and model who paints and composes music.

Mr. Leonard-Peck’s three-year appointment will begin with his appearance at town meeting in April.

He follows outgoing poet laureate Spencer Thurlow.
