It warmed the cockles of my heart to have Linda Tydings Massaro return to the Island for the first of her annual visits. Linda grew up here but now hails from Florida. She has been returning twice a year, June and September, to enjoy the hospitality of our M.V. Family Campground and visit her Island friends. Linda and Dennis Von Mehren brought pizzas over on Sunday. Besides seeing them, another delight of the visit was enjoying the cream puffs that Jessica Oliver made and sent over. Linda returned to Florida on Wednesday. We’ll see you in September.

Juneteenth events on the Island went very well. I hear the food tasting was excellent. Do not forget the annual reading of Frederick Douglass’s essay about what July Fourth means. This will take place at the Inkwell.

Kudos to our high school boys’ relay team. They won the nationals in Eugene, Ore. last week.

On Thursday, June 23, you can catch an hour of enchanting shanties and stories at 4:30 p.m. at the West Tisbury Library. Mark Alan Lovewell and Molly Conole will be happy to entertain you. I’ll see you there.

Our Vineyard Haven Library will entertain you with new books, indoor and outdoor storytimes this week, solstice haiku, and Tisbury Shellfish Day.

Our condolences go to the McCullough family of West Tisbury. Family matriarch Rose McCullough passed. She will be greatly missed.

Get well wishes continue to go out to Angela Piper Murphy who is recovering from hip surgery. Our friend who grew up here, Marganna Roberts, has broken her foot in California. I have a sad feeling she will not be visiting me this summer. Get well soon.

The birthday bandwagon pulled along Franke Volpe on June 17. Delightful Laura Kimball celebrated on June 20. And on June 22, Joann Vermette and Debbie Dean took the cake. Many happy returns.
