The town of Tisbury posted the following advisory on its website August 11: Due to an increased risk of high bacteria levels after a measurable rainfall, the Tisbury Board of Health advises people to avoid swimming at the town beach located at Owen Little Way for 24 hours after heavy rains. An advisory will be posted at the beach entrance after measurable rainfalls.

The health board also announced that mosquito spraying will take place in Veterans Memorial Park on the morning of August 12, with work expected to be finished by 7 a.m.
