Jennifer Vogel, of Edgartown, has been appointed the new executive director of Vineyard House, the Island’s sober living community, the organization announced this week.

Ms. Vogel, who until recently served as director of the Island Counseling Center, will succeed Kate Desrosiers, who is retiring after seven years.

“Kate has been the beating heart of Vineyard House, leading with skill, compassion and a sense of humor, and she will be sorely missed,” said Bill Howell, president of the Board of Directors. “We feel so lucky to have found someone with Jen’s deep experience and competence to carry us forward.”

A licensed clinical social worker, Ms. Vogel had worked for Martha’s Vineyard Community Services as head of the counseling center since 2016. Previously, she worked for Catholic Charities in Niagara Falls, NY, where she was the clinical coordinator and consultant for the Monsignor Carr Institute, overseeing nine outpatient mental health and substance use agencies. She begins her new job Sept. 12.

Ms. Desrosiers served on the Vineyard House Board of Directors for several years before joining the staff in 2015.

Founded in 1997, Vineyard House provides housing for Island men and women in need of a safe structured living environment while they are in the early stages of recovery from alcohol and drug addiction. For more information, go to www.vineyardhouse.org.
