I entertained 13 turkeys for brunch on Sunday. I think they are finally getting over the death of one of their comrades on Frankin street two weeks ago. They were loud, happy and demanding. Nice to have company in the off season.

We certainly had heavy rain last Friday. And Monday night! All the rain we needed in the summer is showing up now.

I was thrilled to watch the Pats game Sunday. We defeated the Browns 38 to 15.

Sunday also saw the end of our Striped Bass & Bluefish Derby. Many records were broken. Same time, next year.

Our American Legion Post 257 on Martin Road reminds us that Bingo is played every Monday night from 6:30 pm to 9 p.m. come try your luck. I’ll see you there.

This has to be the best free invitation ever to all Islanders. Polly Hill Arboretum at 795 State Road in West Tisbury is having a celebration of fall leaves this Saturday, Oct. 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. It is a free event with activities for all ages.

Fall leaf crafts and activities will take place in the far barn. Cider and donuts will also be served there. The visitor center will have a plant giveaway and a sale on fall color plants. There is a Fall Color Plant Tour from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and then from 2 to 3 p.m. There is a Native Tree Trail Tour from noon to 1 p.m. You may sign up for tours at: bit.ly/Fall Colors-Tours. A wonderful celebration of life was held for John Leite last weekend. We shall miss him so much.

Richie Roy and his lady Eliana were married Sunday afternoon at the Tisbury Water Works. It was a beautiful day, beautiful weather and a most beautiful bride. The food was perfect. Nancy Jephcote and Corrine played music. I wish them happily ever after.

Anniversary bouquets go out to Sam and Ashley Byrd who celebrated on Oct. 17. Douglas and Aree Walker also celebrated that day.

The birthday bandwagon pulled along Noel Macy and Tyler Adler on Oct. 18. Oct. 20 honors Erich Leuning. Oct. 21 is shared by Lori Robinson Fisher, Jane Tomkins Christensen Gerber and Rozana Pires. And on Oct. 22 Miah Almodovar and Barbara McMurray take the cake. Many happy returns.
