Every year I look forward to the annual holiday letter from Carol and Jim Osborn, reviewing the past year of their family members. I was not disappointed. That woman, Carol, can write. She should be writing this column! She detailed her experiences visiting Kenya and Uganda. What adventures, including attending a wedding in Africa. She described Jim’s new occupation as a Lyft driver, their attendance at Les Miserables at the high school last April and Jim’s 50th high school reunion in California.
As you may know, their son Christopher has a family — his wife Lisa and three boys in Norway. Son Jeremy is on-Island now. Michael and Valerie had a baby boy in October. Carol can’t wait to meet her seventh grandchild. I was exhausted after reading Carol’s wonderful news. Here is to another great year for the Osborns.
A friendly female cat, Cali, is missing in the West Chop area near Mink Meadows. She is mostly white. Over one eye is a splotch of gray and the other eye has a splotch of orange. I have a contact phone number and there is a reward. If you have Cali or have seen her please give me a call at 508-627-0931 so we can send her home.
The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston is giving us a treat on Monday, Jan. 16 in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The museum will be free and open to all from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
We are almost back to normal. Porto Pizza reopens today in Vineyard Haven. Their hours will be noon to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday. I’ll see the delightful Breth family there.
With great sadness I send condolences to my friend Mary Matero. Her 15-year old dog Frankie passed last week. He was such a good boy.
I was so sorry to hear John Silva died. John was a good friend and quite a character. Condolences to Tekla and his island family.
Get well wishes continue for Rob Lytle. He keeps a hectic schedule in spite of his recent accidents.
No birthdays to report? This cannot be. If you had an early January birthday, check in with me. Many happy returns.
