We are going through our typical April. Last week we had shorts, T-shirts, flip-flops, and fans on and windows open. Now last night the heat was on, the sweatshirt and real shoes were back, and the windows were closed. We had a March wind but lots of sunshine.

So, the drawers in my room are full of mixed clothes and my snow shovel remains on my deck until mid-May. The last time I put it away early, we got snow.

Happy Birthday to all who celebrated their day this past month. Big balloons go out to Isabella Florio and Riley Kaeka, who celebrated April 17; Anna Alves, Olivia McCormick, Isadora Cordeiro, Maya Nascimento and Icaro Nunes on April 20; and to Filho Oliveira, who celebrates his day on April 21.

I have to confess I am struggling for news this week. It is school vacation week so my street is quiet from the hustle and bustle of parents dropping off the kids. I see more kids arriving on bikes but mainly their scooters.

I drove past Depot Market, which has now reopened. Great Harbor, where you have to pry your way into the parking lot in the morning for coffee, was quiet and I drove right in. And when I drove past the Stop & Shop, there were four cars in the lot. I thought I had the wrong day for going to work.

Congratulations to those Islanders who ran the Boston Marathon. I marvel at their dedication to training, dieting and personal gain. Having that medal placed around your neck, no matter if you were the last one in, means you did it. I know one runner completed 26 miles in four hours, fifty-nine minutes and twenty-two seconds. Amazing and congratulations.

Don’t forget to check out the library for activities. They have something for everyone.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
