The following cases were heard in Edgartown district court.

April 7

Eric W. BenDavid, 60, of Oak Bluffs, was arraigned on April 3 charges in Oak Bluffs of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, a number plate violation, possessing an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, possessing a firearm without a firearms identification card and possessing ammunition without a firearms identification card. Defendant released on personal recognizance. Defendant entered plea of not guilty. Pretrial hearing scheduled for June 12.

April 18

Clerence H. Goncalves, 39, of Oak Bluffs, was arraigned on an April 16 charge in Oak Bluffs of assault. Defendant released on $150 bail and with further condition to stay away from and have no contact with alleged victim. Pretrial hearing scheduled for June 5.

Bruno D. Oliveira, 33, of Vineyard Haven, was arraigned on April 14 charges in Oak Bluffs of drunken driving, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and a marked lanes violation. Pretrial hearing scheduled for May 11.

Laurenzo S. Diaz, 24, of Vineyard Haven, was arraigned on April 16 charges in Aquinnah of breaking and entering a building at nighttime for the purpose of committing a felony, drunken driving and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Defendant released on personal recognizance and payment of $150 counsel fee. Pretrial hearing scheduled for June 26.

April 19

Okolo M. Schwinn-Clanton, 52, of Vineyard Haven, was arraigned on April 18 charges in Vineyard Haven of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery on a public employee and resisting arrest. Defendant being held at the Dukes County Correctional Facility in lieu of bail and with condition of no abuse of alleged victim. Pretrial hearing scheduled for May 5.

April 21

David L. Millen, 29, of Vineyard Haven, was arraigned on an April 20 charge in Oak Bluffs of possession of a Class B drug (cocaine). Defendant released on personal recognizance and was advised of the potential of bail revocation and the right to be drug tested. Pretrial hearing scheduled for June 23.

April 24

Keslley L. Xavier, 32, of West Tisbury, was arraigned on an April 23 charge in Edgartown of violating an abuse prevention order. Defendant released on personal recognizance and with further condition to stay away from and have no contact with alleged victim. Pretrial hearing scheduled for May 4. Discovery compliance and jury selection scheduled for May 30. April 28

Renato D. Cardoso, 30, of Edgartown, was arraigned on an April 22 charge in Oak Bluffs of disorderly conduct. Defendant released on personal recognizance. Pretrial hearing scheduled for May 11.

Jonas Correa, 41, of Oak Bluffs, was arraigned on April 22 charges in Oak Bluffs of disorderly conduct and threatening to commit a crime. Defendant released on personal recognizance and payment of $150 counsel fee. Pretrial hearing scheduled for June 29.

Thorpe Karabees, 26, of Chilmark, was arraigned on an April 27 charge in Oak Bluffs of vandalizing property. Defendant released on personal recognizance and payment of $150 counsel fee. Pretrial hearing scheduled for June 29.

May 1

Joseph M. Reyes, 28, of South Windsor, Conn., was arraigned on April 30 charges in Oak Bluffs of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, operating a motor vehicle with suspended registration, and possessing an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle. Defendant released on personal recognizance. Pretrial hearing scheduled for June 12.

May 4

Gary L. Sylvia, 69, of Edgartown, was arraigned on a May 2 charge in Edgartown of assault and battery. Defendant released on personal recognizance and payment of $150 counsel fee. Pretrial hearing scheduled for July 7.

May 8

Shane A. Harthcock, 41, of West Tisbury, was arraigned on a May 7 charge in Oak Bluffs of trespassing. Defendant released on personal recognizance and payment of $150 counsel fee. Pretrial hearing scheduled for July 7.

Nelson R. Tuck, 42, of West Tisbury, was arraigned on May 6 charges in West Tisbury of assault and battery on a family or household member, strangulation or suffocation, threatening to commit a crime, intimidating a witness, juror, police or court official and possessing a firearm without a firearms identification card. Defendant being held without bail at the Dukes County Correctional Facility. A 58A hearing scheduled for May 11.

Avalon E. Weiland, 21, of Oak Bluffs, was arraigned on May 7 charges in Oak Bluffs of drunken driving and a marked lanes violation. Defendant released on personal recognizance. Pretrial hearing scheduled for June 9.
