Commercial clamming season has begun in West Tisbury.

The town select board voted Wednesday to open the season until further notice.

Fishermen with commercial licenses will be allowed to take “one heaping bushel” per day, Tuesday through Saturday, as recommended by the town’s shellfish advisory committee.

“Now you can get raking,” said select board member Jeffrey “Skipper” Manter.

The board also voted to authorize $40,000 in excess personnel funds in the fire department budget to be used for critical repairs for one of the town fire trucks.
