The third annual Give Me Shelter art sale benefiting Harbor Homes takes place Tuesday, August 1, and Wednesday, August 2, at West Tisbury’s Grange Hall.

Forty artists will be represented at the sale, with a portion of proceeds going to Harbor Homes, which provide housing and shelter for low income and homeless people on the Vineyard.

“A lot of people don’t realize that there is actually a homeless population on the Island,” said Tanya Augoustinos, one of the event curators and organizers. “People tend not to see them around, so it’s sort of an ‘out of sight, out of mind’ sort of thing.”

The sale takes place Tuesday from noon to 7 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. A reception from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday offers an opportunity to learn more about Harbor Homes and its services.

“I think this is a great opportunity to support a really important cause on the Island,” Ms. Augoustinos said. “And art is something you can actually take away.”

The sale features both established artists and newcomers, and includes a wider range of more affordable art than past years, Ms. Augoustinos said.

“Really, it’s a win-win for both the arts community and for this great nonprofit,” Ms. Augoustinos said.
