The land is our foundation. It supports everything that we do — be it farming, living in our homes, going to our schools, our villages or our beaches.

As we continue to develop our land we need to deeply consider whether the remaining open land is right for development or right for preservation. We are extremely lucky to have our Martha’s Vineyard Land Bank because it make decisions like that. It acts on its decisions and partners with land developers, if that is the appropriate choice for the land, or preserves open space that is fragile or in other ways is in need of preservation.
