The dispute between the Regional High School and the Oak Bluffs planning board over plans for a turf football field will be before a judge early next month.

State Land Court judge Kevin Smith Tuesday scheduled a status conference on the ongoing lawsuit on Nov. 3. The conference will be the first court proceeding since the judge ruled in September that the planning board went beyond its authority when it denied the school’s turf field plans.

In the wake of the decision, the school asked the judge to reverse the town’s denial. The planning board, not seeing eye-to-eye with the school committee, asked that the project be sent back before the board for further deliberation on the field’s location on the school campus.

The judge could issue directions at the conference hearing, or require the parties to file further written arguments on how the judge should move the case forward.
