A Cape Cod man pleaded not guilty to charges in Edgartown District Court Monday after he allegedly crashed a 43-foot sport boat onto the beaches of Chappaquiddick while intoxicated last week.

Riley Blizard, 32, of Cotuit, was arrested by state police on Friday night after police received reports of the beached Hinckley yacht around 9:40 p.m.

Police said Mr. Blizard and another man were with the boat and claimed they made a navigational error. 

Mr. Blizard showed signs of impairment, according to a statement from police, and officers conducted a sobriety test.  Based on the results Mr. Blizard was arrested and charged with operating a boat under the influence of liquor and negligent operation of a boat. 

Mr. Blizard was arraigned on Monday, according to court records, and posted the $1,000 cash bail after pleading not guilty. 

He is due back in court for a pretrial hearing on June 27.
