Farm Neck Golf Club was bustling Wednesday night for this year’s Best of the Vineyard awards ceremony, hosted by Martha’s Vineyard Magazine.

More than 2,400 Vineyarders cast more than 65,000 votes during the past year for their favorite businesses on the Island, from bakeries and restaurants to cleaning and landscaping services.

Guests sipped cocktails and noshed on small bites and oysters from the Clambulance while writer and comedian Charlie Nadler announced the winners.

The presentation was preceded by a performance by the Vineyard Sound.

Monica Brady-Myerov, publisher of Vineyard Gazette Media Group, shared a few words on the importance of the event for small businesses looking to make their mark.

“Winning ‘Best of’ has a lasting effect,” she said. “Many Islanders and tourists make their shopping, dining and home repair decisions based on this designation.”

A full list of winners and runners up will be published in the July edition of the Martha’s Vineyard Magazine, along with a story on the making of Jaws in 1974 on the Vineyard, and how wind farms are affecting, or not affecting, whale migrations.

Category winners received plaques to display at their businesses.

Best Live Music Venue: The Ritz (with owners Larkin and Jacqueline Stallings).

Genainna Sampaio owns Vineyard cleaning business Shine Bright Maid Services, which was this year’s runner-up in the Best Cleaning Company category. She celebrated the honor Wednesday alongside employees, family and friends. She said that Best of the Vineyard is something she looks forward to every year.

“I love coming here....I see all my friendly competitors. We always have a blast,” she said.
