We learned recently that any new reservation system for the Steamship Authority is unlikely until after 2026, with no end date in sight. According to an article in the Vineyard Gazette, Steamship Authority Leaders raised concerns about this and declared that this problem needs to be a top priority.

Who are they addressing? General manager Robert Davis called the 2026 timeline aspirational. What exactly is he managing? Are any of these leaders or managers familiar with the workings of the Steamship Authority? Or are they merely remote observers as stunned as the public they are supposed to serve by this unsolvable problem.

The article mentions that they have worked with a consultant to identify companies that could build a reservation system. Are they familiar with the wonders of Google? I know we live on a wonderful fantasy island. I just never understood how far into wonderland we had fallen.

I am joining the Y to take swimming lessons.
