There are lots of visitors to welcome this time of year.

Steve and Joan Kass are entertaining their family from San Francisco.

Dudley Bennett traveled here from California to visit with his Island family, Tom and Carol Whitmarsh Bennett.

My friend Judy Banks of Chicago and Oak Bluffs is expected to be at the family home by Thursday.

Our former denizen, Bijan J. Bayne, has taken a very different path to travel. Bijan has moved to Thailand and is very much enjoying it. He has taken a trip over to Cambodia now but Thailand is his base. You might remember him from playing basketball during summers here with the Oak Bluffs basketball gang. Bijan went on to write a book about it called Vineyard Basketball. He has written many sports books, magazine articles, spoken on the radio about sports and coaches public speaking. I hope the next time he is on-Island we have a chance to catch up.

Justin Ahren has a few spots left in his creative art, writing, poetry package to Tuscany in October. A great time to be in Italy!

Louisa Gould has a cocktail reception for shows by two of her favorite artists, Peter Bachelder and Paul Beebe. The reception is Saturday, July 27 from 5 to 7 p.m. I’ll see you there.

Special birthday wishes go out to Anne Luzzatto who resides in Vineyard Haven. Anne and her son Benjamin share July 25 as their birthday. The Luzzatto-Neaville family from Brooklyn, N.Y., and Washington, D.C. will be on-Isand to celebrate together.

The birthday bandwagon pulled along Dave Pangaro on July 19, Joan Jenkinson on July 21, and Marco Antonio Rojas Rivadeneira on July 23. Many happy returns.
