There will be a screening of the documentary short, My Father’s Name, at the Martha’s Vineyard Film Center on August 18 at 7:30 p.m. The film is directed by Susanna Styron.
The film tells the intimate story of one woman’s attempt to uncover the truth about her father’s participation in a lynching, find a way to hold her family accountable and face the dawning awareness of her own unconscious racism.
The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with Ms. Styron, Skip Gates and Rabbi Caryn Broitman. It will be moderated by Charlayne Hunter-Gault.
