The Old Sculpin Gallery continues its 70-year anniversary summer of shows with a member exhibit beginning August 17. The show includes artists Brian Kirkpatrick, Steve London, Eva Cincotta, Judith Howells, Larry Glick, David Joseph and Karen Morgenbesser.

There will be a opening reception in Sunday, August 18 between 5 and 7 p.m. The show continues through August 23.

The Old Sculpin Gallery building was built in 1840, beginning its life as a sail loft. It has also been a whale oil factory, a grain store and the workshop of legendary local boatbuilder Manuel Swartz Roberts.

As an art gallery, located beside Memorial Wharf and the Chappy Ferry terminal, it continues its life as a community gathering place, now lifting up the work of local artists, from high school scholarship shows to weekly member exhibits.

The current member show includes photographers sculptors, illustrators, printmakers and painters specializing in waterfronts, landscapes, fish and more.

The gallery is located at 58 Dock street in Edgartown.
