The Martha’s Vineyard Land Bank reported revenues of $778,199 for the business week ending on Friday, Oct. 18, 2024. The land bank receives its funds from a two per cent fee charged on many Vineyard real estate transactions.
Much of the land bank revenue last week came from the town of Edgartown, where seven transactions resulted in $401,480. One transaction earned $122,000 in Chilmark. Four transactions generated $105,300 in Aquinnah. Four transactions resulted in $70,460 in Oak Bluffs. Two transactions earned $42,760 in Tisbury. And two transactions generated $36,199 in West Tisbury.
The land bank uses its revenues to purchase and manage land for purposes of conservation, preservation and passive recreation. To date the agency has participated in the purchase of more than 4,050 acres of Vineyard land.
