The weather is still warm and yes there are a few of us still wearing flip flops. It is a challenge with the leaves on the ground but they are still on. I also see people in shorts and T-shirts, so I guess we are not the only warm people. I carry extra shoes in my car just in case the cold sets in suddenly which has been known to happen on a few occasions.

Happy Birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Luke Freeman, Demyen Heil, Alice Martins and Rahjae Hall, who all celebrated Nov. 9; Gavin Robinson, Helena Da Silva, Nov. 11; Juliet Merrill, Nov. 12; John Chandler Mylena Silva, Iris Nascimento, Nov. 14; and to Richard Worley, Yasmin Sena and Kiara Hanson, who all celebrate their day on Nov. 15.

Special birthday wishes go out to Carol Fligor who celebrated her 81st birthday on Nov. 1. Congratulations and here’s too many more.

I have been hearing a lot about people skipping right over Thanksgiving and going right to Christmas. I have a few friends who have already put up their trees and decorated them for Christmas but will have a large Thanksgiving family celebration at their homes. I heard on the radio this morning that people who put up their decorations so soon are friendly and welcoming people. This is very true about the friends I know.

The Christmas trees have arrived at the nursery and the greens and wreaths will be here by the time you read this. I always said, “How come so early?” But now, being on the retail side I understand. We have big orders to fill to be picked up the day after Thanksgiving, people are here for the weekend, and they want to leave wreaths on their doors for the holidays as they won’t be here and this year.

On Thursday, Dec. 12, the weekend of Christmas in Edgartown, we are presenting T’was the Night Before Christmas. It will be aimed toward the children with lots of ornaments to see, some project tables and a wish tree. It will be a fun night for all.

So with all this activity, we have to start now because we have many lights to hang and trees to decorate, wet wreaths to wrap and get ready for putting the greens in. We will also have the music area that you can listen to on the radio, while watching the lights dance through the trees. It will be a fun weekend.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
