Some requests have entered my news that I put before you. Our good friend, Jakob Burton-Sundman, has returned to his home on Island after some medical and rehabilitation work off-Island. Jakob’s address is Hillside Village, C-8, 421 Edgartown Road, Vineyard Haven, MA 02568. He would love some cards. His family will read them to him as he is getting his eyesight problems worked on. Bless you all.
Another man who could use our greetings is Joe Robichau at 431 Washington Street, room 312, Newton, MA 02458. Joe’s wife, Johanna, suggests you do not mention the Vineyard at all. Let’s send these men some seasonal greetings.
The Edgartown Christmas parade and ritual tossing of the candy was a successful event. Many happy shoppers and visitors were in town.
The Black Dog Tavern will have Johnny Hoy and Delanie Pickering entertain you on Saturday for pub night.
On Sunday, Dec. 22 the tireless Roberta Kirn invites you to the annual Community Sing and Chorus at 4 pm at the Martha’s Vineyard Hebrew Center. This is an in-person event. All are welcome. Admission is free.
The Hebrew Center also offers an event on Wednesday, Dec. 25, the first night of Hanukkah. There will be the lighting of the candle, a Chinese dinner catered by Chef Ting and a movie. Registration is required.
I urge you all to not forget Festivus, which is traditionally celebrated on Dec. 23. But really, any day of the year is acceptable. My favorite parts are the Airing of Grievances and the Feats of Strength.
My own special thanks goes to Jill Rosenkrantz for her help. The Edgartown Bookstore, the staff and especially Matthew, have also gone out of their way for me. Many thanks.
Jo Jo Wild has left many fine memories and many devastated family members and friends. He was a multi-talented person who passed so young.
Sad news reached me that Janet Messineo-Israel passed on Tuesday. Our condolences to Tristan and her many friends, readers and fishing buddies.
The birthday bandwagon pulls along Marc O’Donnell on Dec. 18. Many happy returns. And next Wednesday morning in your hearts, in your homes and under your trees, may you all find peace.
