When the opportunity arose for Coastal Supply Co. owner Anne-Marie Eddy to relocate to a larger space, she jumped at the chance.
In February, the Vineyard Haven storefront will move from its Union street location to Main street, taking over the building previously occupied by Leslie’s Pharmacy, which closed down in September after over 70 years of servicing the community.
“It’s just really exciting to go into a new space but also scary,” Ms. Eddy said. “When I think about it, my stomach flips, but then I’m also excited.”
Ms. Eddy has been at her current location since 2017, selling everything from clothing to local art, jewelry and home decor.
“My whole theory with my store and retail in general is I want to make it accessible,” she said.
Ms. Eddy grew up coming to Martha’s Vineyard and celebrated her wedding on Island, before moving here full-time with her husband, Jim Eddy, who owns Big Sky Tents. The first iteration of her store was ReFabulous Decor, which opened in 2013.
“I come from a long line of really creative women, mostly on my mother’s side,” she said. “My grandmother . . . that’s all I remember about her, making everything, cooking everything, and everything was handmade. My mother would hand make our clothes. So there was always creativity in my house.”
Ms. Eddy also owns Martha’s Vineyard Home Staging, and said the larger space for Coastal Supply will enable her create a new area there with furniture from her other business.
“I’m going to be taking some pieces from my staging inventory that have been barely used, and I’m going to incorporate that into the space as well and make those available for sale to people,” she said.
Ms. Eddy said she takes pride in being a store that has something for everyone, and looks forward to continuing to build her business in the new location.
“I want to keep it accessible to everyone, and I want to stay in business for the long run,” she said.
The new location for Coastal Supply Co. is 65 Main street, Vineyard Haven.
