Exciting news for our food options. Chef Carlos Montoya and Sheenagh Caridi have purchased our beloved Little House restaurant. They open in March and have renamed it the Pasta Maker Shoppe and Cafe. Same convenient location. Good parking. I have not seen the menu yet but Chef Montoya has been known to present fabulous dishes at many fine restaurants. I’ll keep you posted on their opening day.

Our boys basketball team had a real nail-biter playing the Monomoy team. We were down by 15 points but pulled it together. Sophomore Jacoby Light made the winning shot just at the buzzer. Congratulations team.

We are so proud to see that our Michael J. Fox, who works so hard to research and find a cure for Parkinson’s, went to Washington, D.C. to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom. This is the highest award a civilian can get. The award was conferred on Jan. 4.

I usually give you an idea or two of Valentine’s donations you can make here on Island. It is a perfect time to donate to Connect to End the Violence. My other suggestion this year goes to the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard.

I missed some birthdays. Just to catch you up, Janis Syslo and Holly Nadler shared Jan. 27; Jamie Alley and Molly Conole partied on Jan. 28; one of my most cherished friends, Katie Nevin, came into the world on Jan. 29. Sadly she has passed. And I must be sure to mention my boss, my minpin Toby Gardella. Toby will be 17 on Valentine’s Day. Many happy returns to all. Stay warm, stay well.
