Stop & Shop is remodeling its pharmacy in Edgartown after purchasing the building late last year.
The pharmacy on Edgartown-Vineyard Haven Road remains open during the renovation, though shelves in the store portion of the building were bare last week.
Stop & Shop bought the building from a Maryland-based limited liability company and Carol Sugerman Reck in December for $2.2 million.
“We are currently renovating that space to better serve our patients and hope to complete renovations by early summer,” company spokesperson Stephanie Cunha said.
When completed, the renovation will feature a dedicated space for immunization services, Ms. Cunha said.
Stop & Shop is one of three pharmacies left on the Vineyard in the wake of Leslie’s Pharmacy’s closure last year.
Island pharmacists said that the patients from Leslie’s have resettled at Stop & Shop, Vineyard Scripts and Conroy Apothecary.
Stop & Shop previously said it was willing to explore alternative real estate options when the condo, one of five in the building, was up for sale.
