There will be at least two new Vineyard select board members this year as the Island’s annual town elections continue to take shape.

The deadline for nomination papers in Oak Bluffs, West Tisbury and Edgartown has now passed. With town elections later this spring, the deadline to return papers in Tisbury is March 25; Aquinnah’s deadline is March 27; Chilmark is March 12.

Both Chilmark and Oak Bluffs have longtime incumbents announcing plans to not seek reelection. There is also a three-way race for the Edgartown select board seat held by Michael Donaroma.

Matt Poole is the lone candidate so far in the Chilmark select board race. He is vying for a chance to take over James Malkin’s seat, who has served on the board for nine years and is stepping down.

Gail Barmakian, who has been on the Oak Bluffs select board for 15 years, is also not seeking reelection. Town planning board member Sean DeBettencourt is the only person who pulled papers for the seat.

In Edgartown, Mr. Donaroma is being challenged by Glen Searle, an Edgartown parks commissioner, and Walter Alexander Morrison, a wastewater commissioner. Mr. Donaroma has been on the board for seven terms and is the sitting chair.

The only contested race in West Tisbury is for the board of health. Peter D’Angelo and Daniel Sauer are both vying for a three-year term. The town’s incumbent select board member Cynthia Mitchell is running unopposed.

Select board member John Cahill is the only person who has pulled papers so far in Tisbury for his seat.

The annual elections will be held on April 10 in Oak Bluffs, West Tisbury and Edgartown. Aquinnah’s election is May 15; Tisbury’s is May 13 and Chilmark is April 30.

The League of Women Voters of Martha’s Vineyard is sponsoring candidate forums, which will be held late between late March and early May. Dates are available on the league’s website.
