The weather reminds me of a see-saw. I’m thinking our drought has ended.

It is a big weekend and week coming up. There is a beach clean-up on Saturday, April 19 for this year’s Earth Day, beginning at 10 am. This will be followed by a luncheon and a party at the museum.

Monday is our traditional Patriot’s Day celebration, and the running of the Boston Marathon. I shall never forget the tragedy at the marathon 14 years ago. The lives lost. Big Papi declaring Boston Strong, and saying “you messed with the wrong city.”

Of course schools will be closed, our library closed and the Tisbury Council on Aging will not be open. It is also spring break week for our students.

Tristan Israel and Paul Thurlow will sing and play from noon to one p.m. on April 25 at the senior center. Chef Bubbles will prepare a delicious soup. I’ll see you there.

Kirk Metell kindly informs us the road project is almost over, but continue to choose alternative routes when possible as Lawrence Lynch will grind the roads the last week in April. Weather permitting, paving will be first week in May. We all have company coming!

Joalser and Gisele Nascimento and their two grown kids, Gabriel and Manuelly, have returned from a wonderful visit to Brazil where they saw family and friends. And beaches. Ah, someday Brazil. On my bucket list.

Sad news for my neighborhood. Bill Little who lived here for years died last week at his farm in Georgia. Bill was the kindest and funniest man I ever knew. He had so many friends here. Condolences to Deb Little and the family.

The birthday bandwagon pulled along a passel of partiers on April 16: Elaine Bart at 100, Carole Vandal, Noave Knight and Jenny Seward. Many happy returns.
