The moon gets close to two really bright stars in the week ahead.
This Sunday, the moon passes over the bright star Regulus, the main star in the zodiacal constellation Leo. You won't see the occultation, it takes place Sunday afternoon and it will be watched at twilight in Europe. That evening, we get the next best view, you'll see the gibbous moon in close vicinity to Regulus, as the two appear in the eastern sky..
Next Thursday, the full moon will rise in the east with a bright companion star, Spica. Spica is the brightest star in that area of the sky, certainly the brightest in the zodiacal constellation where it resides. Depending on the time you look, the two will be as close as two degrees. That might mean you won't see it without being deliberate.
Regulus and Spica are among the brightest of stars in the spring sky.
