The bread from Shaw Berke and her faithful Boxer Sassy arrived from their home in Florida. A loaf of pumpkin and a loaf of banana. Shaw has such talent in so many things, and Sassy’s second birthday was on Tuesday. Shaw sent a picture of Sassy looking at her birthday cake. I could bet that Shaw made that, too.

How could I have missed telling you about the annual stand out for Connect to End the Violence on the seawall last Saturday? I hope you all saw it when you drove by.

The Flying Horses will be having a birthday party as well.

Great news, the Tristan Israel Band will be in concert at 6 p.m. on Tuesday July 21 at 200 Main street.

The newly renovated Vineyard Haven library is open. Go hear Tristan’s band and check out the library’s new look.

My good friend Douglas Walker, a retired serviceman, is also an incredible artist. He draws many things and makes many things from pocketbooks to cedar boxes and tables. Douglas, a Lumbee Nation member, just won first place for his entry of a cedar box with his paintings on it at a pow wow in Greensboro, N.C. Congratulations.

Get well wishes continue for Michael and Nolan Ellis. They are both still hospitalized at Mass General after that serious bike accident.

The birthday bandwagon pulled along Cathy Dille Burdick on July 7, Sheryl Enos celebrated on July 8, Petra Lent McCarron partied on July 9, Lauraye White and Betty Burton observed July 11, and on July 14 Mikey Waters, Rafael Maciel and Tabitha Lenz took the cake. Many happy returns.
