We have learned with great sadness that the Martha’s Vineyard Family Campground has been sold to a corporate developer. For the past 40 or so years our family has benefited from the opportunity that the campground gave us to enjoy the unique beauty of the Vineyard at an affordable price. When our friend Jay Winogrond introduced us to the campground way of life it became a summer tradition for our family almost every year.
In the early years the kids (old and young) enjoyed pushing the envelope of the rules of the establishment but inevitably we would have a loud and heartfelt singalong by the fire. I remember the bingo game nights, the karaoke nights pick up baseball and soccer games on the playing field and the film nights. What wonderful memories they are.
Over the last nine years, Ally has brought a relaxing and friendly face to the office, always remembering the family and asking about them. She brought a personal touch which made us feel like part of the family community.
We thank Mr. and Mrs. Feeney for their vision in setting up this unique resource and truly mourn the loss of the atmosphere which can never be replicated by an anonymous corporation.
Signed with sadness,
Patricia DeBruhl
